This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of a correctional services training environment as an Administrative Officer specialising in logistics and stores. Based at either of two designated training colleges, the role is central to ensuring that records, archives, and physical resources are managed in line with public service standards. The incumbent will operate within a structured supply chain management framework, applying both administrative expertise and practical knowledge of systems such as LOGIS. The role is appointed under the Public Service Act and forms part of the broader departmental effort to maintain orderly, compliant, and efficient record-keeping and resource management at the training colleges.

Candidates must hold a recognised degree or national diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing Management, or a related qualification, accompanied by one to two years of relevant experience in a supply chain management environment. Practical familiarity with the LOGIS system is essential, as is computer literacy. A valid driver’s licence is also required. Beyond these formal qualifications, the role demands a range of competencies including sound job knowledge, strong communication and interpersonal skills, professional integrity, and the ability to perform under pressure. The successful candidate will need financial management acumen, facilitation and presentation skills, and the capacity to plan, organise, lead, and control work processes. Additional attributes include project management, conflict management, report writing, time management, confidentiality, and a clear understanding of public service policy and legislative frameworks. Service delivery orientation, honesty, assertiveness, problem-solving ability, networking skills, and diplomacy are equally important, as is a working understanding of registry functions.

The core duties centre on the management of archives and registry sections. This includes transferring records to archives, withdrawing records from both archives and registry, and disposing of files according to procedure. The administrative officer will also control the uniform filing system, ensure the safe keeping of departmental files, and perform general filing duties. Resource management forms another key component, alongside the management of performance information. These responsibilities require meticulous attention to detail and a disciplined approach to record life cycle management. The role therefore supports both operational efficiency and institutional accountability within the training college setting. Interested applicants should note that this is a full-time public service position, and successful candidates will be expected to uphold the ethical and professional standards associated with the department.
