The Department of Correctional Services is seeking a Senior Provisioning Administration Officer for Subsidized and Departmental Transport within its Logistics directorate at the National Head Office. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective and accountable administration of government-subsidised vehicles allocated to management and other authorised role-players. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire allocation process, monitoring vehicle utilisation to ensure efficiency and compliance, and maintaining up-to-date statistical records. In addition, the position requires the preparation of management information reports that support decision-making and strategic planning within the department. The officer will also take on broader administrative responsibilities spanning performance information, human resources, finance, and asset management, making this a varied and demanding role that sits at the intersection of transport logistics and public service governance.

Applicants must hold a recognised three-year degree or National Diploma in Transport Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related qualification, combined with three to five years of practical experience in a similar environment. Computer literacy and a valid driver’s licence are non-negotiable requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a range of competencies, including strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, effective facilitation and presentation abilities, conflict management, training, communication, and time management. Coaching and mentoring capabilities are also important, as is a thorough understanding of the Public Finance Management Act and Treasury Regulations. Service delivery orientation, client focus, and knowledge of the departmental transport procedure manual are essential. Personal attributes such as integrity, honesty, assertiveness, influence and networking ability will be key to thriving in this role.

The core duties involve administering and supporting the allocation of subsidised vehicles, monitoring their utilisation, and updating relevant statistics. The officer will implement and execute policies and procedures related to subsidised vehicles, compile utilisation statistics, and produce management information reports. Additionally, the role encompasses the management of performance information, human resources, finance, and assets within the unit. This position is a Public Service Act appointment, and candidates should familiarise themselves with the circular reference and post number when preparing their applications. As with all departmental vacancies, applications are only accepted through the official online recruitment portal; emailed, posted, or hand-delivered submissions will not be considered. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned provisioning administration professional to contribute to the efficient logistical operations of a major national department.
