This position, based at the Nelspruit Regional Office, offers an exciting opportunity for a property professional to contribute to the strategic management of state-owned land and buildings. As the Assistant Director for Disposal REMS, you will operate within the broader public service property management framework, focusing specifically on the identification, coordination, and disposal of redundant and superfluous residential properties, as well as the release of vacant surplus land parcels in support of government land reform objectives. The role is central to ensuring that state property is managed efficiently, transparently, and in accordance with applicable legislation and prescripts.

To be considered for this role, you will need a minimum three-year tertiary qualification at NQF Level 6 in Real Estate Management, Property Management, Law or Property Law, Land Administration, Valuation, Town or Regional Planning, or a closely related property discipline. This must be supported by relevant experience in the property management or land administration field. A strong working knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, financial administration, procurement directives and procedures, programme and project planning, and reporting procedures is essential. You should also be familiar with the Government Immovable Asset Management Act, the Disposal Act, the Deeds Registry Act, the Financial Assistance Land Act, BBBEE requirements, and Treasury Regulations. The role demands excellent report writing and numerical skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the capacity to work under pressure. You must be goal-oriented, assertive, innovative, and able to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Your main duties will involve implementing and maintaining property management policies, procedures, and frameworks, while providing guidance on compliance with relevant delegations and prescripts. You will coordinate the disposal process for redundant and superfluous residential properties, including facilitating identification processes, conducting inspections to determine property condition, and verifying ownership status. You will also coordinate the release of vacant surplus land parcels to achieve land reform objectives relating to restitution, distribution, and human settlements development. In addition, you will contribute to effective state property management by coordinating the gathering of original conveyance and transfer documentation, delivering instructions to the Office of the State Attorney, and accepting draft Powers of Attorney and transfer documents for delegated authority to sign. Supervision of employees to ensure effective service delivery forms a key part of the role.

Shortlisted candidates must be willing to undergo standard vetting and verification processes, and it is the responsibility of applicants to have foreign qualifications evaluated by SAQA. Applications must be submitted on the prescribed Z83 form accompanied by a detailed CV, with certified documents required only at interview stage. This is a demanding but rewarding position for a motivated professional seeking to make a tangible impact on public land administration.
