The three Financial Aid Officer posts at Lovedale TVET College are based at the Central Office in King William’s Town and form part of the college’s broader student funding administration team. Operating within the public technical and vocational education and training sector, these officers are responsible for ensuring that student bursary and financial aid processes run smoothly across the campus environment. The positions are graded at an OSD-linked level and report within the college’s corporate services structure, working closely with the financial aid committee, campus management, and external funders. The roles are central to supporting students who rely on NSFAS and other sectoral funding, and they require a sound understanding of the post-school education and training landscape.

To be considered, applicants must hold a Matric certificate or NCV Level 4 qualification, together with a recognised three-year National Diploma in Financial Management at NQF Level 6, or a related qualification. At least two to three years of relevant experience in a TVET financial environment is required, along with a valid driver’s licence. The ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge of the Continuing Education and Training sector, the Public Service Act and Public Service Regulations of 2016, the Public Finance Management Act, and departmental policies. Familiarity with the COLTECH system, basic financial operating systems such as ITS, and the ability to capture data, operate computers, and collate financial statistics are also essential. Strong communication, networking, negotiation, research, interpersonal, planning, organising, and numeracy skills round out the required competencies.

The main duties involve coordinating student bursary schemes and providing financial aid administrative support services at campus level. This includes administering the bursary and financial aid application processes in line with NSFAS guidelines, funder memoranda of understanding, service level agreements, and institutional policies. Officers will review financial aid applications, analyse provisionally funded NSFAS students, and coordinate the authorisation of disbursement funds. They will also facilitate other financial aid schemes, such as those funded by WRSETA and HWSETA, and prepare reports on all bursary and financial aid allocations for the financial aid committee and other stakeholders. In addition, the role includes supervising staff, so proven leadership and team management ability is important.

Successful candidates will be subject to vetting, including criminal record, citizenship, qualification, and employment verification, and will be required to annually disclose their financial interests and declare any conflicts of interest. Shortlisted candidates may also undergo personnel suitability checks and pre-entry assessments, including a practical exercise and an integrity assessment. Lovedale TVET College is an equal opportunities employer and encourages people living with disabilities to apply. All applications must include a fully completed, signed Z83 form and a comprehensive CV with at least three contactable references; foreign qualifications must be accompanied by a SAQA evaluation report. The college reserves the right not to fill the posts or to withdraw them at any time, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
