An opportunity exists within the Sekhukhune District Office of the Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure for a Photocopy Operator. This entry-level support position is central to the smooth running of the district office’s administrative and document management functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that photocopying services are delivered efficiently and reliably to support the broader work of the department. Operating within a public service environment, the role requires a strong awareness of Batho Pele principles, which underpin service delivery standards in South Africa, as well as a commitment to maintaining safety, hygiene and infection control in the workplace. The position is based at the Sekhukhune District Office and forms part of the department’s broader operational capacity.

To be considered for this post, applicants must have a Junior Certificate, STD 8, Grade 10, AET/ABET, or an equivalent qualification. No prior specialised experience is specified, making this an accessible entry-level opportunity for individuals who meet the educational requirement and possess the necessary knowledge and skills. Candidates should have a working knowledge of Batho Pele Principles, basic safety and hygiene practices, infection control measures and hazard monitoring. In addition, strong interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities and sound time management are essential. These competencies will enable the incumbent to interact appropriately with colleagues and members of the public, follow health and safety protocols, and manage multiple photocopying requests in a busy office environment.

The main duties of the Photocopy Operator revolve around the rendering of photocopy services. This includes operating photocopy machines correctly and safely, ensuring that all machines are kept in good working order, and reporting any faults or malfunctions promptly for repair. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of photocopier usage, including keeping photocopier registers up to date. Attention to detail is therefore important, as the role requires consistent documentation and monitoring of machine activity. By performing these duties diligently, the Photocopy Operator contributes to the efficient administration of the district office and helps to minimise downtime caused by equipment failures.

Applicants should note that this is a public service position subject to the department’s recruitment and selection processes. All shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo security clearance, verification of qualifications, and pre-entry assessments, including a practical exercise and an integrity assessment. The recommended candidate will also be subjected to a personnel suitability check. The department is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer, and women and people living with disabilities are encouraged to apply. The employment decision will be informed by the department’s Employment Equity Plan. The department reserves the right not to make an appointment, and correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates. If no feedback is received within three months of the closing date, applicants should consider their application unsuccessful. Applications must be submitted using the prescribed employment application form and a comprehensive CV, and candidates with foreign qualifications are responsible for having them evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority. The department will not cover travel, accommodation or meal costs for candidates attending interviews.
