The Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure in Limpopo is advertising multiple Cleaner positions at various welfare complexes and district offices across the province. These include posts at the Polokwane Welfare Complex, Thabazimbi and Bela-Bela in the Waterberg District, Thohoyandou One Stop in the Vhembe District, and Matlerekeng in the Sekhukhune District under Ephraim Mogale. As an entry-level support role, the Cleaner is essential to maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic environment within government welfare facilities, directly supporting the department’s commitment to Batho Pele principles and quality service delivery to the public.
Candidates must have a Junior Certificate, STD 8, Grade 10, AET, ABET, or an equivalent qualification. In addition to the formal qualification, applicants should possess knowledge of Batho Pele Principles, basic safety and hygiene practices, infection control and hazard monitoring. Strong interpersonal, communication and time management skills are also required, as cleaners must interact politely with staff and visitors while managing their workload efficiently.
The main duties of the position include providing cleaning services across the assigned facility, keeping and maintaining cleaning materials and equipment, requesting and managing the supply of these materials, and implementing and maintaining hygiene and infection prevention measures. This involves routine cleaning tasks, ensuring that cleaning supplies are available and properly stored, and following protocols to prevent the spread of infection, particularly in public-facing welfare environments.

The recommended candidate will also undergo a personnel suitability check. Applicants with foreign qualifications must have them evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). The department reserves the right not to fill any of the advertised posts. Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates, and applicants who do not receive feedback within three months of the closing date should consider their application unsuccessful.
