This vacancy is for a Senior Organisational Development Practitioner based at the Head Office in Polokwane, within the Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure. The role sits within the department’s organisational development function and is central to ensuring that the institution’s human and operational structures remain efficient, responsive and aligned with public service regulations. The incumbent will work as part of a team that supports the design, review and refinement of the organisational architecture, helping the department to deliver on its mandate through sound structure and work design.

To be considered, applicants must have Grade 12 and a relevant qualification at NQF level 6 in Operations Management, Management Services, Production Management, Industrial and Organisational Psychology, or an equivalent field recognised by SAQA. A minimum of two to three years of relevant experience is required, along with a valid motor vehicle driver’s licence, although persons with disabilities are exempt from the licence requirement. The role demands a solid understanding of organisational design, restructuring and development principles, work study techniques, change management strategies, business process re-engineering, and job grading and evaluation systems. Familiarity with public service regulations, acts and policies is essential. Candidates should also bring strong problem-solving, project management, communication, stakeholder engagement, analytical, conflict resolution, facilitation and presentation skills, as well as report writing ability and computer literacy.

The main duties include assisting with the development and review of the organisational structure, providing job evaluation services, facilitating the development and review of job descriptions, and implementing operations management framework interventions. This involves working closely with managers and employees across the department, ensuring that positions are accurately graded, job descriptions remain current and relevant, and that operational processes are continuously improved. The practitioner will also contribute to change management initiatives and help embed a culture of efficiency and accountability.

The department is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer. Women and people living with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Employment decisions will be informed by the department’s Employment Equity Plan. Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to security clearance, verification of qualifications, and two pre-entry assessments: one practical exercise testing technical and generic suitability, and one integrity assessment. The recommended candidate will undergo a Personnel Suitability Check. Applicants with foreign qualifications must have them evaluated by SAQA. The department reserves the right not to fill the post. Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates, and if no feedback is received within three months of the closing date, applicants should consider their application unsuccessful. Candidates invited for interviews will need to make their own travel, accommodation and meal arrangements, as the department does not cover these costs. This is a demanding but rewarding role for an experienced organisational development professional seeking to make a meaningful impact in the public service.
