The Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure in Limpopo is offering a Graduate Internship Programme for the 2027/2029 intake, with three positions available within its Properties and Facilities Unit based in the Capricorn District. This structured workplace experience opportunity is aimed at unemployed South African graduates who have never participated in a Public Service Graduate Internship programme in any government department. Successful candidates will be appointed for a fixed period of 24 months, commencing in April 2027 and ending in March 2029, and will receive a monthly stipend in line with the Department of Public Service and Administration’s directive on developmental programmes in the public service.

The internship is designed for graduates who have completed a National Diploma or Degree in Real Estate, Property Studies, LLB, or a National Diploma or Degree in Horticulture. These fields directly support the work of the Properties and Facilities Unit, which is responsible for the management, maintenance, and legal administration of the department’s property portfolio and physical infrastructure. Interns will gain hands-on experience in their area of study, working alongside professionals in the unit and contributing to the effective delivery of services. The programme provides an opportunity to develop practical skills in property management, facilities coordination, legal processes related to public infrastructure, and horticultural services, depending on the candidate’s qualification.

Key responsibilities will be assigned within the unit and may include assisting with property inspections, lease administration, facilities maintenance coordination, legal research and documentation, and the planning or upkeep of landscaped areas and grounds. Interns will be expected to perform administrative duties, support senior staff, and participate in projects that align with the department’s mandate. The programme is intended to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and workplace practice, so interns will be exposed to real-world challenges and expected to work as part of a team.

Applicants must submit a completed Z83 application form (2021 version) along with a comprehensive CV. When applying through the provincial e-recruitment system, copies of qualifications, an identity document, and a valid driver’s licence must be attached. Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of their ID, Grade 12 certificate, and qualifications on or before the interview date. Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). All shortlisted candidates will undergo security clearance, verification of qualifications, and two pre-entry assessments: one practical exercise and one integrity assessment. The recommended candidate will also be subjected to a Personnel Suitability Check.

The department is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer, and women and people living with disabilities are encouraged to apply. The employment decision will be informed by the department’s Employment Equity Plan. Candidates should note that the department will not cover any costs related to transport, accommodation, or meals for interview attendance. Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates only, and applicants who do not receive feedback within three months of the closing date should consider their application unsuccessful. The department reserves the right not to make any appointment to these posts.
