This position offers an experienced and qualified individual the opportunity to manage primary health care services within the Klipfontein geographic area, based at the Hanover Park Community Health Centre. Operating under the Metro Health Services directorate, the Facility Manager will be responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of a Primary Health Care service, including community-based services and Community Orientated Primary Care (COPC). The role is situated within a public health environment and requires a leader who can coordinate services across the designated area, ensuring that the facility and its outreach programmes function effectively and in line with departmental objectives.
Candidates must possess an appropriate three-year National Diploma or Degree as a minimum educational qualification. In addition, relevant managerial experience is required, gained within an NGO, private organisation, or the state sector. This is not an entry-level role; it demands a proven track record of leadership within a health management context. A valid Code B/EB driver’s licence is an inherent requirement, as the post involves travelling within the Sub-structure to consult clients, attend meetings, and conduct training sessions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership abilities, sound interpersonal and people management skills, and a comprehensive knowledge of Public Health Sector regulations, legislation, and policies. Familiarity with corporate services, supply chain management, human resource and labour relations management, as well as computer literacy, are also essential competencies for this role.
The duties attached to this post are broad and encompass both strategic and operational responsibilities. The Facility Manager will be tasked with the planning, coordination, and management of primary health care services for the Klipfontein geographic area, which includes integrating community-based services and COPC into the broader service delivery model. Financial management, supply chain management, and human resource management all fall within the scope of this position, including the implementation of the Staff Performance Management system and handling labour relations matters. The role also requires a strong focus on quality management, occupational health and safety, and infection control and prevention within the primary health care setting. Furthermore, the incumbent will be expected to manage engagement with community stakeholders, establish liaison networks, and foster appropriate partnerships to support the health needs of the population served.
This is an OSD-graded post, and applicants should note that no payment of any kind is required when applying. The selection process will include a written or practical assessment as well as an oral assessment, so candidates should be prepared for a rigorous evaluation of their skills and suitability. This is a demanding but rewarding role for a health professional seeking to make a tangible impact on community health outcomes in a dynamic public sector environment.
