This position is an internship opportunity within the E-Gazette Contact Centre at the Government Printing Works in Pretoria. As part of the institution’s Graduate Programme for the 2027/2029 financial year, the successful candidate will spend 24 months gaining structured, on-the-job work experience in a government environment. The role is designed for a qualifying graduate who has completed a National Diploma or Degree in Contact Centre Management, or a related contact centre qualification. It provides a formal pathway for unemployed graduates to develop practical skills, build professional confidence, and apply theoretical knowledge within a public-sector service delivery context.

During the internship, the incumbent will receive structured exposure and training aligned to their field of study and the specific placement area. The core duties are centred on active participation in the daily operations of the E-Gazette Contact Centre, which handles public and stakeholder queries related to government gazettes. The intern will be expected to engage in workplace activities, contribute to projects, and take part in capacity-building initiatives under the supervision of experienced professionals. This means fielding enquiries, supporting the contact centre team, and learning how to manage communication flows and records efficiently. The internship is deliberately hands-on, giving the graduate the chance to understand the workings of a government printing and publishing institution while developing customer service and administrative competencies.

Candidates must be South African citizens and currently unemployed. Importantly, applicants must not have previously participated in an internship programme, and failure to disclose any prior internship will result in immediate termination of the contract due to dishonesty and undue enrichment. The selection process requires shortlisted candidates to be available for interviews at a date set by the Government Printing Works. Personnel suitability checks will be conducted as part of the process. Successful candidates will enter into an employment contract and performance agreement. Applicants with foreign qualifications are responsible for having their qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority. By applying, candidates consent to the collection, processing, and storage of personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, which governs the use of the data for recruitment purposes only. Those who do not receive feedback within three months of the closing date should consider their application unsuccessful. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate to launch a career in contact centre operations within a notable government institution.
