    Requirements

    Minimum educational qualification: Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nursing Assistant. Registration with a professional council: Registration with SANC as Nursing Assistant. Experience: Grade 1: None. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate / recognisable nursing experience after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ appropriate / recognisable nursing experience after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant. Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work shifts, public holidays, after-hours, night duty and weekends. Must be prepared to assist in all departments according to operational needs. Willingness to work overtime when necessary. Ability to work under pressure. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Computer literacy (MS Office and Outlook). Basic Nursing Care principles and procedures. Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape. Skills to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, function within the multi-disciplinary team and facilitate on the level of the post.

    Duties

    Provision of basic nursing care by assisting patients with activities of daily living (physical care). Ensure implementation of basic nursing care plans and effective communication. Effective utilisation of resources. Promotion of QA, IPC AND OHS within the department. Maintain professional practice and ethical conduct and self-development.
