The role demands a proactive approach to innovation, including identifying process improvements and automation opportunities. Computer literacy in MS Office is essential. The successful candidate must also ensure that procurement contracts address operational requirements, conduct value-for-money analysis, market research, and supplier analytics to maximise innovation and technological benefit.

The duties cover a wide scope. The manager will handle the secretarial requirements of the Supply Chain Management Committees, which is a key governance function. They will provide leadership and oversight of the supplier management function, ensuring accurate processing, maintenance, and governance of all vendor data. This includes managing supplier risk registers to identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks. Additionally, the manager will drive the development and implementation of supplier development programmes, with the aim of strengthening supplier capability and enabling sustainable supplier growth. This is an important role in supporting the City’s broader supply chain performance and local supplier ecosystem.
