POST : MEDICAL SPECIALIST GRADE 1 X 1 POST COMPONENT : OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY CENTRE : R.K KHAN HOSPITAL REFERENCE NO : RK/ENT1/2026 SALARY : R1 395 528.00 per annum (all-inclusive package ) Plus, commuted overtime. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • MBChB Degree • Registration Certificate with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Otorhinolaryngology -Head and Neck Surgery. • Current annual fees registration with the HPCSA (2026/2027) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED • Sound knowledge and experience in Otorhinolaryngology. • The ability to teach and supervise junior staff. • Middle Management Skills and problem solving skills • Research principals • Quality awareness. • Good administrative, leadership, decision making and communication skills. • Relevant legislation, regulations and policies. Quality assurance and • improvement programmes. Programme planning, and evaluation. Information management and computer literacy skills • Human resources and financial management. • Self-confidence. Objective. Ethical. Emphatic. Passion for teaching KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS ? Provide Specialist Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck surgery services to all departments at R.K Khan Hospital ? Control and management of these services as delegated. ? Promote clinical effectiveness through the development, dissemination and implementation of clinical protocols and standard treatment guidelines aligned with national and provincial norms and standards ? Maintain clinical, professional and ethical standards related to these services ? Provide supportive supervision/mentorship in the relevant discipline; participate in the training of medical and nursing staff. Assist in the on-site training and supervision of Registrars in Otorhinolaryngology. ? Provide expert opinion where required and consult with Specialists on Otorhinolaryngological procedures. ASIBE HEALTHY KZN ? Work with the Management Team to establish & maintain systems including ? surveillance, health information, communication and referral guidelines and processes to support the delivery of services ? Participate in the Quality Improvement Programmes at R.K Khan Hospital ? Maintain necessary discipline over staff under his/her control. ? Attend to administrative matters as pertains to the unit. ? Provided support to ensure appropriate infrastructure, equipment and sundries for the provision of quality clinical care. ? Initiate, support and participate in risk management activities for patients ? Initiate, Support and participate in clinical audits and quality improvement. ? Implement effective monitoring and evaluation process, effective use of data and appropriate reporting output and health outcomes. ? Conduct, assist and stimulate research, particularly MMed research. ? Provide after hour ENT specialist care to the Durban functional region in accordance with the commuted overtime contract. ? The successful candidate will be expected to perform duties as needed at the ENT clinic at R.K Khan, as delegated by the Medical Manager.
