To ensure the accurate and efficient management of airtime inventory and bookings across SABC platforms from receipt of request through to on-air transmission. The role is responsible for coordinating and executing all operational activities related to the preparation, scheduling, and delivery of advertising campaigns, ensuring that all bookings are processed correctly, logs are finalised on time, and broadcast requirements are met in accordance with internal standards, client needs, and governance procedures. MAIN OBJECTIVES (KEY PERFORMANCE AREA) JOB OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR WEIGHT BUSINESS OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY Process airtime requests accurately and efficiently from receipt through to transmission. Create and maintain campaign, product, and industry code records within the airtime management system. Manage bookings and ensure accurate scheduling of spots in line with client, platform, and programming requirements. Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts or unavailability of airtime, negotiating alternative placements when required. Communicate changes such as programme amendments, non-broadcast spots, and cancellations promptly to relevant stakeholders. Ensure all logs are checked, finalised, and transmitted within required deadlines to maintain broadcast continuity. Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail in all booking and scheduling activities. Prepare and issue campaign confirmations and availability reports to clients or Account Executives. Coordinate processing of live reads, sponsorships, and special instructions as per approved requests. Manage late revisions and ensure updates are accurately reflected in the system and communicated to affected stakeholders. Support Ratings Analysts and other internal teams by providing campaign data required for performance monitoring and reporting. Address and resolve client or internal queries promptly and professionally. Monitor and report on daily limbo spots, re-pricing, cancellations, and compensation adjustments. Process added value, goodwill, and compensation bookings in line with relevant approvals and correct discount coding. Liaise with the Deals and Finance teams to ensure accurate deal application, correct client accounts, and revenue integrity. Track airtime utilisation and support initiatives to optimise inventory usage. 70% GOVERNANCE, RISK AND COMPLIANCE Ensure compliance with Sales policies, SOPs, internal controls, regulatory requirements, and governance frameworks. Validate credit and debit notes to ensure accuracy and compliance with approval protocols. Maintain accurate records of all campaign activities and follow file management and document retention procedures. Support audit and compliance requirements through accurate documentation and process integrity. Promote a culture of accountability, operational discipline, and compliance within the team. 20% STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Engage proactively with external clients and agencies to resolve booking, scheduling, and campaign-related issues. Participate in operational meetings and feedback sessions to improve efficiency and service delivery. 10% TOTAL PERCENTAGE 100% INHERENT REQUIREMENT FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS: A relevant qualification at NQF Level 4/5, or above
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in airtime management, sales administration, broadcast traffic, or a related scheduling environment. Experience with broadcast management systems Knowledge of media sales fulfilment processes in television or radio Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent administrative and organisational skills. Effective communication and coordination skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and relevant broadcast systems. Strong customer service orientation.
