    Job Purpose

    The purpose of the job is to lecture at undergraduate and postgraduate students according to set syllabus, to contribute academic leadership in the Department and Faculty. The position will require quality review of the curriculum and implementation, and assessment of programmes offered aligned to policy. The incumbent will ensure the programmes offered meet the South African Nursing Council requirements, liaise with industry stakeholders, coordinate WIL placements, engage in community service-learning projects, conduct and publish research in the field.

    Requirements

    A PhD in Nursing or an equivalent qualification. At least four (4) years' relevant lecturing experience in Higher Education. A qualification in nursing education and nursing management. A three or four-year qualification in general nursing and midwifery. Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a professional nurse, midwife and nurse educator. An additional qualification in a postgraduate nursing speciality will be advantageous.     Duties

    Lecture on the undergraduate and postgraduate Nursing programmes. Develop innovative teaching and learning methods and materials for the subjects being taught (e.g., lecture notes, tutorials, online content). Coordinate teaching and learning of the nursing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to ensure SANC compliance. Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department. Promote scholarship of teaching and learning. Participate in curriculum development. Monitor and assess Work Integrated Learning. Research supervision of postgraduate students. Participate in research projects and produce DHET-accredited publications Perform appropriate academic and administrative duties in the Department. Lead community engagement projects that are relevant to the department and that contribute positively to society. Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
