This senior provisioning administrative officer post sits within the Chief Directorate Financial Administration and Management, in the Supply Chain Management Directorate at the Provincial Office. The incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day logistical provisioning functions that support the broader public service supply chain, with a particular emphasis on the authorisation and control of purchase orders. It is a supervisory role, meaning the officer must not only perform administrative duties but also lead, mentor and oversee staff members within the unit. The work is governed by public sector regulations, Batho Pele Principles, and applicable supply chain management frameworks, so a firm grasp of the policy environment is essential.

To be considered, applicants need a Grade 12 certificate as well as a diploma or degree at NQF level 6 or 7 in Logistics Management, Financial Management, or Supply Chain Management. The role requires at least two to three years of experience in the relevant field, of which one year must be at a supervisory level. A valid driver's licence is mandatory, as the post may involve travel for stocktaking or related logistics activities. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge base that includes supervisory practices, service delivery innovation, problem solving and analysis, client orientation, communication, people management and empowerment, change management, and programme and project management. Understanding corporate services management in the public service, Batho Pele Principles, supply chain processes, and logistics is central to the position.

On the competencies front, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate programme and project management skills, change management abilities, problem-solving and conflict management skills, presentation skills, and people management and empowerment skills. Client orientation, customer focus, and strong communication skills are required, alongside honesty, integrity, knowledge management, networking, and computer proficiency. The role also calls for excellent in-depth knowledge and insight into all applicable policy frameworks governing the public sector, as well as conflict resolution, creative skills, negotiation skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The main duties of the post include rendering authorisation of purchase orders, checking the correctness of allocated ACK numbers, and printing purchase orders. The officer will compile statistics of approved, changed and closed orders and prepare monthly reports on these activities. Participation in stocktaking exercises for inventory purposes is another key responsibility, ensuring that physical stock records align with the department's procurement and inventory systems. Supervision of staff is a critical part of the role, requiring the officer to guide daily work, ensure compliance with procedures, and support professional development within the team.

This is a permanent government position based at the Provincial Office, offering an annual salary package as advertised. The vacancy is advertised under a specific reference number, and the official circular includes details on how to apply and the closing date. Enquiries are directed to a nominated official, as listed in the original vacancy advertisement. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to the effectiveness of public service supply chain management while taking on meaningful supervisory responsibility within a structured government environment.
