This permanent position of Product and Services Marketing Officer sits within the Marketing Division of SITA, the State Information Technology Agency, based in Centurion. The role exists to plan, support, coordinate and execute the marketing of SITA’s products and services, with the aim of promoting those offerings effectively, extending the agency’s service footprint and achieving a sustained increase in its market share. Working in the public-sector ICT environment, the incumbent will help bridge SITA’s technological solutions with government and other stakeholders.
Applicants need a minimum National Certificate in marketing, ICT or a related discipline at NQF Level 6, with one to two years of formal study, coupled with three to four years of practical marketing experience. Direct experience in product and services marketing is an added advantage, as is a background in either the public or private sector. Crucially, candidates must be able to demonstrate that they have developed and executed promotional campaigns and programmes aimed at various stakeholder groups, and that they have planned and set up exhibition stands at different levels. Familiarity with SITA’s own product and service catalogue, marketing tools and methodologies, business principles, and an understanding of the government sector and the ICT industry are all required. Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, relationship management, and sound business writing skills round out the essential profile.
The duties are organised around the full marketing lifecycle. Before a promotion, the officer supports the development of go-to-market strategies and contributes to the planning of provincial and regional marketing activities for SITA products and services. During implementation, they coordinate and support the promotion, manage exhibition stands, liaise with customers, delegates, marketing agencies, lines of business and potential users, and track leads while facilitating basic surveys. After each promotion, the officer provides post-promotion support and coordination, ensuring follow-up and evaluation. This requires strong planning and coordination skills, collaboration, active listening, attention to detail, resilience to handle rejection and setbacks while meeting deadlines, and sound information and knowledge management practices to support decision-making and compliance.
Given the emphasis on government and ICT, the successful candidate will need to work comfortably across SITA’s internal business units and external stakeholders, managing information in line with governance standards and promoting the value of SITA’s offerings. This is a permanent, Centurion-based opportunity within a large public entity, and the role offers the chance to directly shape how SITA positions its products and services in a growing market. Candidates who thrive on stakeholder engagement, exhibition management and structured campaign delivery will find this a fitting next step in their marketing career.
