The Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA) is seeking a highly competent Manager for Corporate Communications, Stakeholder, International and Industry Relations to lead and manage the organisation’s corporate communications, international relations, stakeholder and industry engagement functions. This is a permanent, senior management position within the authority, and the successful candidate will play a central role in strengthening the GTA’s reputation, intergovernmental positioning, industry partnerships and global cooperation footprint. The role ensures coherent corporate messaging, effective stakeholder management frameworks and strategic alignment between the GTA and its provincial, national and international partners.

In the area of corporate communications and reputation management, the manager will develop and implement a corporate communications strategy aligned with the GTA’s broader strategy. This includes overseeing media relations, press releases and official statements, and ensuring consistent corporate messaging across all platforms. Crisis communication and reputational risk management are key responsibilities, as is the oversight of corporate publications such as annual reports, newsletters and briefs. The role also involves monitoring and analysing media coverage and brand sentiment to inform future communications and protect the organisation’s public image.

On the international relations front, the manager will develop and maintain the GTA’s international relations framework, coordinate bilateral and multilateral tourism engagements, and provide protocol guidance for inbound and outbound missions. The role supports the implementation of cooperation agreements and requires ongoing liaison with national, provincial and international bodies. Identifying strategic global partnerships that align with tourism growth objectives is another important aspect of this portfolio.

For stakeholder and industry relations, the manager will develop and implement a stakeholder engagement strategy, maintain and update the stakeholder database and segmentation matrix, and facilitate industry forums and stakeholder engagements. Working in collaboration with the monitoring and evaluation unit, the role conducts stakeholder satisfaction surveys and manages intergovernmental relations guidelines. The manager serves as the primary liaison between the GTA and industry bodies. The position also encompasses brand positioning and strategic alignment, ensuring that corporate positioning reflects provincial priorities, conducting environmental scanning and positioning analysis, analysing the industry impact of GTA programmes, and monitoring visitor information centre service quality feedback. Developing reports on stakeholder perception and agency positioning is also required.

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree at NQF Level 7 in Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, Marketing, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field, with a postgraduate qualification at NQF Level 8 considered advantageous. A minimum of five years’ experience in communications, international relations and stakeholder management is required, and experience within the public sector environment with PFMA compliance is essential.

The GTA advocates equal opportunities and encourages previously disadvantaged individuals and people with disabilities to apply. Full background checks will be conducted on successful candidates. Applications must be submitted by email to the designated HR contact before the stated closing date, accompanied by a detailed CV and cover letter, with certified copies of qualifications required only from shortlisted candidates. Applicants not contacted within 30 days of the closing date should consider their applications unsuccessful.
