Requirements
An ECSA-accredited BTech/BEng/BSc qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering. Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng), Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng). 5–8 years’ post-qualification technical and managerial experience in structural engineering, including structural condition assessments of concrete and/or steel infrastructure, reinforced concrete repair and remedial solutions, and remediation projects executed under live operational conditions. A valid Code B (or EB) driver’s licence and own access to a vehicle. Physical requirements: Ability to access all areas of buildings and civil structures including roofs, basements, ceiling voids, confined spaces, and elevated structures. Ability to work at height (scaffolding, ladders, roof access) in compliance with the OHS Act and Construction Regulations fall protection requirements, or their successor legislation as applicable. Ability to conduct extended walking inspections across multiple sites. Ability to use and wear personal protective equipment as required by site conditions. Medical fitness to work in environments with potential exposure to dust, asbestos (visual identification only, not handling), and confined spaces. Willingness to attend sites at short notice in response to structural emergencies or incidents. Special conditions: Maintained ECSA registration, including compliance with ECSA Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements, as a condition of continued employment. Loss of ECSA registration constitutes a material change in the incumbent's ability to perform the duties of the post. Willingness to respond to emergency structural incidents outside normal working hours.
