Requirements
NQF level 3 (Grade 10 certificate or equivalent) with no experience. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be willing to work shifts and under pressure. Sound knowledge of Customer care.
Duties
Provision of hospital and patient support services: Wheel patients to and from the wards. Transport patients to various service areas e.g. operating theatre. Transport patients to vehicles or other transportation. Collect and transport corpses to the mortuary. Deliver equipment, stores and documentation to wards and other departments. Collect and deliver specimens. Offloading of patients from ambulance and private cars to the stretchers. Cleaning of stretchers and wheelchairs after usage at all times. Report all faulty or broken equipment to your supervisor immediately. Render mortuary services: Receive corpses – record date and time received and released. Store corpses in the cool room. Release and keep record of corpses handed over to next of kin. Load and off-load corpses. Keep proper identification and maintain accuracy of records in the field of work. Maintain equipment. Clean equipment. Safe keeping of equipment.

All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements, and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. The Selection Panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic Managerial Competency Assessment in compliance with the DPSA Directive on the implementation of Competency-based Assessment. Successful candidates will also be subjected to security clearance processes. Where applicable, candidates will be subjected to a skills/ knowledge test. The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools.
