Requirements
Minimum Requirements: SAESI Diploma in Fire Service Technology or IFE Diploma in Fire Engineering Science; or an equivalent service-related qualification Certificate in Fire Investigation 6 years continuous service in a recognized Fire Services environment. Duties
Job Purpose: To perform various managerial, administrative and technical tasks associated with the interpretation, application and enforcement of provisions of conducting fire code regulatory and technical fire safety inspections, perform functions as Fire Investigation Officer; in terms of the Fire Brigade Services Act (99 of 1987).Duties: Prepare annual plan for Fire Safety section in accordance with statutory requirements encapsulated in relevant legislation (SANS 10090 etc.) with a view to aligning functions and service delivery objectives against the capacity and capability of the section. • Interpret, apply and enforce provisions of fire prevention, hazardous materials and fire safety laws, ordinances and related fire protection regulations. • Develop, organize and implement public fire and life safety education programmes for communities and identified sectors of the community. • Conducting fire cause determination and fire investigation during incidents by performing on site analysis through specialist interpretative fire cause techniques and on scene interviews with witnesses. • Supervise and control the activities of personnel and associated tasks. • Undertakes resource management activities of property, plant and equipment assigned to section. • Ensure that efficient records are maintained, and that departmental policies and procedures are complied with. • Ensure efficient communications with all stakeholders. Ensure customer satisfaction with all stakeholders. ensure a well-maintained designated vehicle and the accurate capturing of kilometres in accordance with the laid down Procedures, Policies and guidelines. • Ensure a safe and healthy workspace for all employees.
