    Requirements

This position resides in a strong teaching and research group called Structures, Geotechnics and Materials (SGM). This research group has a large number of undergraduate and postgraduate students working in two well-resourced departmental laboratories, namely, the Heavy Structures Lab and Light Structures Lab. This appointment is aimed at supporting this research group and to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the areas of structural engineering. The Department is seeking a candidate with extensive industry experience in leading the design and construction of large civil structures. The successful candidate will also participate in academic administration, supervise the research of undergraduate and postgraduate students and develop a productive research program within their research group. As a senior staff member, he or she will also be expected to take part in the strategic planning anddecision-making of the department. Responsibilities: Teaching and developing undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the areas of structural engineering.Conducting research in the areas of structural engineering.Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.Source research fund for the SGM research group.Contributing to academic and departmental administration.
