Brief description
The main purpose of this position is to support, maintain and enhance Business Solutions and Technology (BSTD) applications to ensure systems availability, health and optimal performance.

Job requirementsTo be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:a Bachelors’ degree (NQF7) in Computer Science or equivalent.five to eight years’ experience within an application support environment performing the same or similar role. Additional requirements include:Working in cross functional teams.Working in an Agile or DevOps environment.Working experience in supporting OpenShift or any other Kubernetes platform.Understanding of Kafka, Informatica (MDM, IICS, IDQ, EDQ and Axon) AppDynamics or similar, GitLab, SonarQube, JFrog, SAST, DAST, SoapUI, Postman and SQL (Oracle/Postgres/Ms SQL Server).Understanding of ITIL.IT governance, risk and compliance.Continuous improvement.Continued learning and/or professional development.Business continuity and planning.Capacity and performance management.Technical Analysis and documentation.DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipeline development.In line with the SARB’s commitment to diversifying its workforce, preference will be given to suitable candidates from designated groups. Duties
Detailed descriptionThe successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:Monitor the underlying environments (databases and application servers) to ensure capacity management, systems availability and optimal performance across multiple environments.Execute periodic system maintenance (e.g. application and security patches, upgrades, bug fixes, fix system vulnerabilities) in accordance with the set procedures to ensure the reliability and availability of systems.Provide second-line support by troubleshooting, investigating incident root causes, input to incident reports and implement preventative measures to avoid recurrences.Ensure application quality by reviewing application code, perform dev tests including unit tests and deploy changes for solution provided by vendor (s) and/or development team (s) according to deployment procedures.Define business continuity procedures and participate in business continuity plan exercise to ensure system resilience.Adhere to change control processes in the implementation of system changes.To enhance the solutions through the installation of new features and configuring the solution infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships and be a service partner to stakeholders with respect to application support.To keep abreast of best practices and technologies related to BSTD as well as ensure application thereof where relevant.To support and maintain application maintenance roadmaps.To provide reporting and recommendations on solution performance and system availability to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
