This position is a senior leadership role within the National Skills Fund (NSF), tasked with overseeing skills development implementation monitoring across the Limpopo and Mpumalanga regions, while being based in Pretoria. The Director will head a directorate responsible for ensuring that skills development initiatives are not only implemented effectively but also monitored and reported on with a high degree of accuracy and strategic insight. This role sits at the intersection of project management, business intelligence, and organisational performance, making it central to the NSF’s mandate of driving skills development through evidence-based decision-making. The successful candidate will be expected to provide strategic direction, manage resources, and ensure that the directorate contributes meaningfully to the broader goals of the organisation.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess an appropriate Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma at NQF Level 7 in Public Management, Public Administration, Project Management, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification will be a distinct advantage, reflecting the seniority and strategic nature of the position. Applicants need a minimum of five to ten years of experience in project management, with at least five years at middle or senior management level. This experience should be complemented by a valid driver’s licence, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office. The role demands a high level of proficiency in administrative, organisational, management, budget, and financial management skills. In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong time management, planning, and organising abilities, along with the capacity to act with discretion, solve problems creatively, make sound decisions, and exhibit technical proficiency and leadership.
The core duties of this position revolve around managing business intelligence reporting and consolidating organisational requirements for such reporting. The Director will ensure good practice in business reporting, support stakeholders in handling, processing, and receiving reports, and manage the collection and interpretation of data from various internal and external sources. This includes data analysis, report compilation, and the management of business intelligence and organisational report development. The role also involves managing organisational performance metrics, working closely with financial and business analysts to integrate competitive reporting, and maintaining the business data of the NSF. Additionally, the Director will manage the resources of the directorate, oversee employee performance in line with policy, and participate actively as a member of the directorate team.
This is a high-level, all-inclusive remuneration package position graded at Level 13, reflecting its seniority and the significant responsibility entrusted to the post. The role is based in Pretoria, and the all-inclusive nature of the package means that the incumbent will be responsible for managing their own benefits within the total cost to employer. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional with a strong background in project management and business intelligence to make a tangible impact on skills development in South Africa. The role requires a leader who can navigate complex reporting frameworks, engage with diverse stakeholders, and drive a culture of accountability and excellence within the directorate. If you are a strategic thinker with a proven track record in senior management and a passion for skills development, this position offers a challenging and rewarding career path.
