    Garden Route District Municipality (GRM) is situated in George and serves the people in the Southern Cape and Little Karoo. GRDM seeks to achieve the integrated, sustainable, and equitable socio-economic development of its area as a whole by: ensuring integrated development planning; promoting bulk infrastructure development; building the capacity of local municipalities in its area to perform their functions and exercise their powers where such capacity is lacking; and promoting the equitable distribution of resources between local municipalities in its area to ensure appropriate levels of municipal services. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER (GEORGE: WILDERNESS REGION) Salary: R 440 502.33 – R 571 814.45 Task Grade: T12 Minimum requirements: Relevant B Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent qualification • Completed 1-year minimum community services (statutory requirement) • 2-5 years relevant experience in environmental health or related field • Computer Literacy MS Office • Valid Driver's License Code B • Registration with the Health Profession Council of South Africa (HPCSA) • Proficient in at least English and another official language of South Africa. Duties: • Execute legislative requirements and compliance matters in relation to Municipal Health Services. • Assess, monitor, ensure corrective action, control and prevent environmental factors that can adversely affect human health. • Implement processes, conclude and resolve investigations, and generate compliance notices and documentation to ensure enforcement of relevant legislation. • Assist with long-term planning and execute the expected activities. • Assist with managing of the interface and relationships with key stakeholders in support of meeting objectives. • Render health educational programs and awareness sessions within the community in the GRDM jurisdiction. • Plan, co-ordinate and control the tasks of self, to deliver on projects and tasks as required by specifications and within the budget and schedule. • Review and study relevant information from various sources to develop new information as required. • Assist with the optimisation of the financial management of the municipality through the use of policies and procedures.
